A refurbishment of the Danfoss headquarters in Nordborg, Denmark, resulted in a new 500m2 reception area, the roof of which is carried by 12 glass columns. Architect on the project was schmidt hammer lassen architects, and the façade/glass structure contractor was H.S. Hansen. I worked as consulting engineer on the project during my employment with Ramboll, and I was involved in the design, calculation and tests of the glass columns. Each column is 6 meters high, and can carry more than 30 tons. The columns have been tested in the same way as safety glass, with hard and heavy types of impact.
